Kimberly Quinn-Colvin is a writer, artist, public speaker, and longtime mental health advocate who chased her curiosity all the way from Maine to California. After a career in print journalism, she turned her attention to working through the fallout of trauma and mental illness. Kimberly has been fiercely dismantling stigma ever since.
Since 2014, Kimberly has used her voice and creativity to help others feel seen and supported. She’s the author and designer behind NAMI Ventura County’s Community Cares Seminar and Workplace Wellness Workshops, blending her background in journalism and instructional design with lived experience and a lot of heart. Her MS in Photography and BA in Journalism help her tell powerful stories—in images, words, and action.
Kimberly believes mental health affects every single person, every single day, whether they realize it or not. She also believes that stigma only survives in silence—and silence has never been her style.
After hours, Kimberly’s alias and alter-ego is Bruiseberry Muffin. Muffin has been a roller derby skater with Santa Barbara’s Brawlin’ Betties since 2018 and a proud member of The Bipolar Rollers since 2024. Her jersey number, 988, is a not-so-subtle nod to the nationally available phone number for The Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Kimberly lives in Santa Barbara County with her IT-wizard husband and their young adult son—both of whom are remarkably tolerant of her endless crafting adventures and deep love for late-night snacks.
